General Information:

Golden Thread mushrooms, scientifically known as Cordyceps militaris, are small and slender mushrooms, typically measuring 2-8 centimeters in length. They have an elongated shape with a curved profile and feature a distinctive club-like cap at the end of their thin stem. The mushrooms exhibit a yellow-orange hue with a light, bumpy texture. Inside, the flesh is spongy, soft, and ranges in color from pale orange to white. When consumed, Golden Thread mushrooms offer a tender texture, accompanied by a musky aroma and a mild, earthy, and slightly sweet flavor. Cultivated Golden Thread mushrooms are available year-round in Asia, while wild varieties can be found in limited quantities during the summer. They belong to the Cordyceps genus and form a unique parasitic relationship with various insect species. Golden Thread mushrooms are a good source of vitamins D and K, essential amino acids, and immune-supporting polysaccharides and beta-glucans. They are widely used in Asian cuisine and are also cultivated for their medicinal properties.
